CON-DOS

MFA Thesis Show, Bard College

July 15, 2014 – August 7, 2014

CON-DOS (Beta Test) is a four-channel digital slideshow using mass-produced jewelry display mannequins. The title refers to condominiums, and the breakdown of the word with the latter half “DOS,” refers to (computer) operating systems. Jewelry display furniture are manufactured, miniaturized, abstractions of the body for the intent to sell commodities, but when photographed abstractly and projected larger than human scale, they become architectural and spatial. The piece considers how armatures for capital inform how we project ourselves onto the built environment.
