Bio & CV

Lia Lowenthal is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in New York City. Working in a variety of mediums such as sculpture, fashion, drawing, and video, Lowenthal explores how social histories become reproduced through formal and functional qualities of objects, by re-imagining their use, materiality, form, and language. Working simultaneously between the artistic and commercial fashion realms, Lowenthal’s investigations are not limited to their objects but also how they’re displayed, disseminated, and contextualized.

Lowenthal is founder of LL, LLC, a conceptually-driven jewelry line, which collaborates with the historic William Spratling Workshop in Taxco, Mexico, and carried by retailers nationwide.
